Who We Are
The Sri Lanka Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (SLACLALS) is a chapter of the Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies (ACLALS). SLACLALS was created in the late 1970s under the guidance of Ashley Halpé who was Professor in English at the University of Ceylon at the time.
We as a committee work together as a team to encourage the study of and research into Commonwealth Literature and Language with special reference to Sri Lanka and to support creative writing in English.
Currently, SLACLALS is run by Senior Lecturers and Professors of Sri Lanka's famous Universities, and the committee is being led by Professor. Walter Perera, Senior Professor in English, University of Peradeniya. (See the full Committee of SLACLALS)
